Dynasties, BBC One’s upcoming landmark series with Sir David Attenborough, will be shown in stunning Ultra HD on BBC iPlayer.

Each episode will be available on-demand after the programme is shown on BBC One, starting with episode one Chimpanzee this Sunday, 11th November.

It’s the latest instalment of the BBC’s Ultra HD trials, following other major series and events like Blue Planet II, the FIFA World Cup and the Wimbledon Championships. Once again, the BBC’s Ultra HD coverage will include a wider range of colours and High Dynamic Range (HDR), giving audiences some of the highest quality Ultra HD available.

This gives Dynasties an extra layer of realism and detail, perfect for following the lives of the chimpanzee, emperor penguins, hunting dogs, lions and tigers featured in the series. Dynasties follows the true stories of five of the world’s most celebrated, yet endangered animals. This exciting series brings a bold, new level of real life drama to the natural history genre, revealing the complexities of power, rivalry and tenderness in animal relationships.

Matthew Postgate, Chief Technology and Product Officer, BBC, says: “Dynasties is exactly the kind of landmark BBC programme that audiences want to see in Ultra HD. We’ve been trialling Ultra HD over the past couple of years as we reinvent the BBC, and it’s clear that people enjoy the increased quality. We believe our Ultra HD coverage is some of the best around – combining the higher resolution with a wider of range of colours and HDR, which really brings our world-class programmes alive.”

Dynasties in Ultra HD will be available to UK audiences with a compatible TV and a high speed internet connection. As a result of the BBC’s trials and ongoing work with the TV industry, over 700 different devices and platforms are now supported. You can check if you’re able to get Dynasties in Ultra HD here.
