The nation’s favourite cook, Mary Berry, is back for a brand new BBC One series, Mary Berry’s Quick Cooking.

Commissioned from Sidney Street, part of Endemol Shine UK, by Charlotte Moore, Controller, BBC One and David Brindley, BBC Head of Commissioning, Popular Factual and Factual Entertainment, the six-part, half hour series is currently in production, due to transmit in 2019.

Mary Berry’s Quick Cooking follows Mary as she explores some of the most exciting places that have mastered or inspired the very best of speedy cooking. This adventure takes her abroad to cities she’s never visited before, along with places closer to home that we don’t normally have access to. Entwined in these travels is Mary cooking some of her most delicious quick recipes that take no time at all – some in a kitchen and some perched on rooftops, in food trucks or tiny cafe kitchens.

Mary says: “Being in a rush will never be a problem again. If you’re in a hurry and don’t want to spend hours in the kitchen I can show you a world of delicious, quick dishes to tempt any taste buds.”

From Marrakech’s medinas, and the cobbled back streets of Rome, to the buzzing West End of London with its fiery China Town kitchens and the festival foodies of Camp Bestival, Mary will experience the flavours, spices, speed and excitement of cuisines that have inspired some of her best quick recipes.

David Brindley says: “We couldn’t be more delighted to be welcoming Mary back to BBC One with this exciting new series. Everyone wants to know how to make the most delicious food in the shortest possible time, and who better to show us than the doyenne of home cooking. This series promises some unforgettable moments – Mary venturing to Rome, Marrakesh, and of course, ending up on stage with Rick Astley as his drummer after cooking up a storm at a music festival. As if you couldn’t love her any more…”

Mary Berry’s Quick Cooking (w/t) follows her previous four series also produced by Sidney Street: Mary Berry’s Absolute Favourites, Mary Berry’s Foolproof Cooking, Mary Berry Everyday and Classic Mary Berry.

Karen Ross, Managing Director of Sidney Street, says: “We all love Mary. She has a magic and adventure in her soul that makes this a very special series – ambitious, fun and delicious. The perfect combination.”

Karen Ross is Executive Producer, with Mark Ball as Series Producer, Dave Crerar as Series Director and Alice Binks as Event Producer.

Alongside the series, BBC Books will be publishing the brand-new Mary Berry’s Quick Cooking book, packed full of over 100 delicious, foolproof recipes that can be whipped up in minutes or quickly made ahead and enjoyed later. BBC Books, BBC Publishing Director, Lizzy Gray bought the world rights to publish the accompanying book from Felicity Bryan at Felicity Bryan Associates.

Sidney Street is a production company founded in January 2016 by former MasterChef Creative Director, Karen Ross with Endemol Shine UK, and specialises in producing food, factual and lifestyle formats.
