Britain’s Best Home Cook

It’s the quarter final of Britain’s Best Home Cook and Mary Berry, Dan Doherty and Chris Bavin continue to test the remaining five home cooks on their finest dishes. First up, the quarter finalists have two and a half hours to prepare their ultimate sharing feast, with at least four dishes designed to showcase their individuality.

The cooks’ favourite feasts are wonderfully eclectic – from an array of delectable Indian dishes to a hearty deep-south sharing feast complete with ribs and cornbread. With plenty of original offerings and each of the judges picking their own personal favourite, whose will win out?

The cooks chosen by the judges in this round get to determine the key ingredient choice in the next round for everyone. This time, the choice is between squid or mackerel. The cooks put everything into their creations as they attempt to secure themselves a semi-final place.

Based on their performance in these two challenges, the cooks face an anxious wait while the judges decide who is safely through to the semi-final next week and who must cook again. The judges have chosen a classic chicken dish that requires precision, care and skill to execute correctly. The tension is palpable as the cooks try to deliver perfection amid the pressure of this fast-paced elimination round – and someone must leave the competition.

Aires tonight at 8pm on BBC One (BST.)
