The northern star was long-rumoured to be joining I’m a Celeb, and after news broke last night that seemingly confirmed she was heading to the jungle Channel 4 clarified their position this morning.
They concluded: “The Moffatts have been excellent contributors to Gogglebox, and we are very grateful for all they have given to the show.”
Of course, Moffatt’s exclusion from Gogglebox is partly a necessity of her being out of the country, but it’s also not the first time rival media appearances have meant a contributor being excluded from the series. Longstanding series contributors the Gilbey family removed for three series after son George appeared on Celebrity Big Brother, while the Michael family were removed when patriarch Andrew decided to run as a UKIP MP in 2015.
However, both families would later returned to Gogglebox after a period of time (The Gilbeys three series, the Michaels just one), so it’s likely that Scarlett could return to the series at a later date.
