Travel in the City of London will be affected on this day so plan ahead for an easier journey. The information here will help you understand how your journey might be affected.
A special service will take place in the morning on Friday 10 June 2016 at St Paul’s Cathedral. There will also be a lunch for guests hosted by the City of London Corporation at the Guildhall.
Road closure and re-opening times
The area immediately around the Cathedral will be closed off to pedestrians and vehicles from 0700 hours. Roads in the vicinity of the Cathedral including Ludgate Hill, St Paul’s Churchyard, Warwick Lane, Ave Maria Lane and New Change, will be closed from around 0800 hours. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Roads will be re-opened as soon as it is safe to do so, but is expected to be around 1400 hours.
You are advised to avoid driving in the City if at all possible. However, if you intend to drive on this date, please plan ahead and allow more time for your journey taking into account the closures that will be in place.
Barriers will be in place but there will be designated crossing points for pedestrians at Ludgate Hill/Old Bailey; Ludgate Hill/Ave Maria Lane, New Change/Cheapside. Crossings might be restricted for a short time for security reasons to facilitate vehicle movements.
There will be on street parking bay suspensions from Thursday 9 June 2016. Please ensure you check the parking bay before leaving your motorcycle/vehicle to ensure it has not been suspended. If you usually park overnight on an affected road, you should move your motorcycle/vehicle elsewhere the night before. Vehicles parked in suspended bays will receive a Penalty Charge Notice (parking ticket) and might be towed-away.
Parking in the City car parks is unaffected. Information on the car parks, including charges can be found at www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/parking
There will be no vehicle access within the closure area i.e. Ludgate Hill, St Paul’s Churchyard, Warwick Lane, Ave Maria Lane, New Change from around 08.30 through to 1400 hours. If you normally expect deliveries during this time, you are advised to rearrange the date and/or time with your suppliers as vehicle access in the closed roads will not be permitted.
Access to Premises
There are no planned access restrictions to premises.
Local Bus Services
Some bus services will be diverted, temporarily suspended or terminated earlier than their usual destination as a result of the road closures. Some stops will also be temporarily relocated or suspended. The routes affected include: 4,11,15,17,23,26,76,100,172,521 although the road closures are expected to impact on all bus services.

Rail & Underground Services
There are no planned station closures, and both overground and underground trains are expected to be operating as usual.
Santander Cycle Hire & Cycling
The cycle hire scheme is unaffected. Customers are advised to check cycle and space availability online using the live docking station map
Cyclists should dismount when in the road closure area.
