Local police on the island of Ibiza were instrumental in the capture of a 2 metre long, 9 kilo albino python, whose presence had been causing concern to local neighbours.
The snake was spotted on Friday afternoon, with several neighbours calling the police, who promptly arrived at the location on calle de Sant Jordi, but then choosing to simply “watch” the snake until colleagues from the environmental department could arrive.
As the specialists attended, the first attempt at capture proved unsuccessful, when the snake broke away from the forceps used to catch it. After a further 20 minutes of searching, the snake was located, captured and introduced into a special container.
The snake was taken into custody by the environmental department.
