For some parents a visit to Baby Gap or Mothercare just doesn’t cut it. If it’s not designer clothes, jewellery most of us couldn’t dream of owning or a pair of mini Louboutins then they just aren’t interested. Channel 5 invites you into the world of Blinging Up Baby, a 1 x 60 documentary that will air in 2014. It’s not unusual for parents to spoil their children from time to time but these mums and dads are completely off the scale.
And it’s not just about what the children wear and own– we’ll see parents who give their children plastic surgery vouchers for when they turn 16 and think tanning from an early age is the way forward. When you have children wearing high heels, make up and having their hair dyed before they go to infants school there is certainly a moral debate to be had …
Blinging Up Baby was ordered by Channel 5 Director of Programming Ben Frow from indie ALASKA. It will be Alaska’s tenth commission since forming in 2011, following the likes of James Nesbitt’s New Zealand for ITV, The Proposers for Lifetime UK, Show Me Your Wardrobe for SKY LIVING and Gangs of Britain with Martin Kemp and Gary Kemp for CI.
ALASKA Creative Director, Ian Lamarra said “We can’t wait to work with Channel 5. Ben instantly got the idea from the title and saw the potential for must-see tv and a bit of a national debate. Blinging Up Baby will be a show you HAVE to click on when you see it on the EPG. Importantly it is the first show we will have produced which isn’t talent led”
