PLAYED, a dramatic series about elite undercover cops who pose as drug dealers, paid assassins, gun runners and gangsters to infiltrate criminal worlds and collect evidence, has been licensed by Channel 5 uk ahead of PLAYED’s MIPCOM launch.
PLAYED (13 x 1 hour) is Muse Distribution International’s latest series, commissioned by the CTV network of Bell Media. It is premiering this month in Canada. The series is produced by Muse Entertainment (The Kennedys) and Back Alley Film Production (Bomb Girls). It stars Vincent Walsh (Hemingway vs. Callaghan), Chandra West (NYPD Blue) and Lisa Marcos (Flashpoint).
An undercover “play” is a confidence game where cops pretend to be someone else. It is nerve-wracking, unpredictable and full of danger. If these cops aren’t convincing, if they aren’t real, if they miss one cue – their lives could be over in an instant.
Sebastian Cardwell, Acquisitions Manager at Channel 5 commented: “Channel 5 has always been a home for smart, sassy crime procedural drama. PLAYED is no exception, and we’re sure it’ll be a favourite with our audience.”
“Muse is delighted to have Channel 5 its broadcast partner in the uk. Its reach in that market is very deep and its audience fits perfectly with the smart contemporary show that PLAYED represents,” says Muse Entertainment’s President Michael Prupas.
