In this new six-part BBC One series, Ronnie Corbett shows just how potty the Great British public is about pets.
A life-long dog owner himself, Ronnie shares the passion for animals and takes viewers into an extraordinary and entertaining world, where pet owners and breeders put their beloved animals centre stage and are proud to show us why their animals are the very best.
Ronnie says: “This series celebrates our nation’s love of animals which I share. Though I am finding the latest addition to my family a bit of handful; he’s a very playful rescue dog called Baz, and this series will also be following his progress as he adapts to life in the Corbett household.”
The series, to be aired this summer, follows breeders as they compete in colourful shows, races or trials. It will also feature pet owners whose animals have celebrity status, from diva dogs to pampered pigs.
Animals featured include dogs, cats, mini-pigs, miniature horses, camels and even skunks. The series reveals the lengths to which some people will go to make their pets the best in show.
Alison Kirkham, BBC Commissioning Editor for Factual Features and Formats, says: “It is fantastic to be able to welcome a true national treasure, Ronnie Corbett, back to BBC One. Ronnie combined with one of Britain’s favourite passions, pets, feels like a real treat.”
The series is produced by Plum Pictures for the BBC. Plum Pictures Executive Producers are Will Daws and Stuart Cabb; the Series Producer is Mark Jones; BBC Commissioning Editor is Alison Kirkham and BBC Commissioning Executive is Tom Edwards.
Tom says: “It’s great to have Ronnie back on BBC One. And great to have him as our guide as we enter this entertaining, surprising and often jaw-dropping world of British owners and their pets.”
