Today, Channel 5 announces the recommission of the celebrity-fronted documentary series, My Secret Past. For this third series, Louis Smith MBE, Kerry Katona and Jennifer Ellison will delve into their pasts and reflect on the secrets and suffering that has affected them personally.
The series – which is a co-production by Dragonfly and GroupM Entertainment – will explore a range of subjects from behavioural disorders to mental health and post-natal depression. Authored by the celebrity contributors themselves, we’ll hear first-hand how these personal issues have affected their lives, then and now, and speak to the people who witnessed their stories.
We’ll also speak to experts in each field and meet people in Britain going through the same issues today.

In ADHD: My Secret Past, Louis goes on a personal journey to find out more about his condition and reveals how the discipline of gymnastics and the target of Olympics glory helped him to control it. He’ll meet fellow sufferers and find out if the ADHD behaviours that he’s suppressed for so long will come back to haunt him.
Kerry Katona – Mental Health: My Secret Past Reality star and Atomic Kitten, Kerry Katona is famous for her public outbursts but why is she the way she is? Jason Wells, Acting Commissioning Editor for News, Current Affairs and Documentaries said: “In My Secret Past, celebrities open up and reveal deeply personal insights into the issues they’ve faced in their lives – from mental health problems to ADHD. Their efforts to confront head on these tough subjects that have affected not only them but also many other people in the UK, along with a desire to help other suffers make for a moving and inspiring programme.”
Paul Durgan, Series Producer at Dragonfly adds: “My Secret Past reveals celebrities in the raw. As they journey back into their past, we witness both their shock/some shocking revelations and the strength they have found to cope with the issue that’s impacted on their life. And as they meet and mentor young people dealing with the same issues – from ADHD to post-natal depression – some of our best-known faces prove to them they are not alone and that life really can change for the better."
The series will TX on Channel 5 next year.
