Etta James seriously ill in doctors’ care

Legendary singer Etta James is currently under 24-hour doctor’s care after becoming seriously ill earlier this week.

Her health has been in decline since she began suffering from a number of illnesses, including dementia and kidney failure, and now James’ caretaker, Dr. Elaine James, has confessed the star’s days may be numbered after her chronic leukaemia was declared incurable.

Speaking to California publication Riverside Press Enterprise on Thursday, the physician revealed her 75-year-old patient is now terminally ill, revealing her communication has also been severely reduced.

The singer’s family members and husband, Artis Mills, gathered outside a courtroom on Thursday for a hearing over the conservatorship of the star’s £625,000 estate to determine how to best allocate funds for her care.

Mills’ attorney, Bettye Barnard, added, “My client will spend whatever he thinks is necessary to keep his wife alive.”
