West Midlands disorder arrests top 700

MORE than 700 people have now been arrested in connection with the summer disorder in the West Midlands.

It comes following the arrest of 15 suspects in Birmingham this morning (Tuesday 15 November).

Officers raided 17 addresses in the fourth phase of a co-ordinated set of arrest missions planned in an attempt to process suspects as efficiently as possible through the criminal justice system.

The 15 arrests were mainly for burglary and related to offences committed at stores such as JD Sports, Adidas and Hatman in Birmingham City Centre.

It means the total number of arrests now stands at 703.

Detective Sergeant Julie Woods said: “We cannot emphasise enough that this investigation is very much ongoing and our absolute focus continues to be the identification and arrest of suspects.

“Anyone who was involved in the disorder and has not yet been arrested should know that we will be coming to get them.”

Many suspects have still not been identified and a large number of CCTV images remain on the West Midlands Police website.

Anyone who recognises anyone in the images is asked to contact officers from Operation View on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Alternatively they can email tellus@west-midlands.pnn.police.uk.

Anyone who recognises their self in any images is encouraged to hand themselves in at their nearest police station.
