Free Match Tickets for Women
Romania’s Football Federation (FRF) announced today (Weds) that free tickets will be given to women, kids under 16 and OAPs for the Euro 2012 football match between Romania and Belarus, scheduled for Friday in the National Arena in Bucharest.
The decision was made after Romania’s football team head coach, Victor Piturca, said it was a mistake to play at the newly-built 55,000 seater National Arena stadium, as only 300 tickets had been sold.
Romania has no chance to qualify in its group for the Euro 2012 championship after the 0-0 draw with France in September. Romania has only two matches left – with Belarus on 7 October and with Albania, on 11 October. In group D, Romania is third, with 12 points, after France (17 points) and Bosnia (16 points).
The turf in the newly-built National Arena was described as disastrous after the first match there between Romania and France on 6 September, as pieces of turf flew everywhere during the match. The turf in the stadium, which is to host the Europa League final next year, has been changed under the supervision of UEFA.
This stadium will also host the Champions League match Otelul Galati-Manchester United.
