Thomson Jet Lands on Taxiway

A Thomson Airways Boeing 737, flying from Doncaster to Paphos on flight number BY-3350 on Wednesday of this week, for some reason missed the runway at the airport and landed on a taxiway that runs parallel.

Luckily, there were no other aircraft on the taxiway at the time, or the result could have been catastrophic.

The reasons why the supposedly highly trained and skilled commercial flight crew could make such a basic error are being investigated by the Cyprus Department of Civil Aviation.

The aircraft had departed Doncaster 3 hours late and the subsequent return was nearly 10 hours late, after the flight crew were replaced.
