Emmerdale gets a makeover
A new era of Emmerdale has dawned as the Yorkshire-based soap has thrown loads of money at a new logo, opening titles and giving the well-known theme tune a bit of a makeover too.
According to the show’s bigwigs, the new-look opening credits will get their first airing on Monday, and will convey the location as a “dynamic yet authentic village of hidden depths, where what you see isn’t always what you get.”
You can say that again. While Emmerdale looks like a quaint Yorkshire village, it’s actually a hot bed of affairs, rape, murder, plane crashes – you name it, they’ve had it.
The shots for the opening credits have been filmed in HD and begin with a “sweeping woodland shot which leads to a peek behind closed doors in three of the most iconic sets – the Dingles’ house, The Woolpack and Home Farm.” Oooh!
The soap’s executive producer Steve November appears thrilled with the results, saying: “Our aim is to refresh perceptions of the programme. Emmerdale has a unique voice and we wanted to reinforce that by giving it a fresher, more contemporary feel, to reflect the richness and diversity of its characters and storylines.” Quite.
As for the new logo – well, the picture above says it all. Money well spent, eh?
