Ship stranded in the Antarctic with 100 people aboard

A Barbados-flagged ship, called the Polar Star, is stranded in the Antarctic Peninsula with 35 crew and 80 passengers on board.

The Centre for Search and Rescue Coordination of the Argentine Army received the alert, informed the Ministry of Defense.

The ship’s captain reported that the situation is stable and everyone on board is safe.

Rescue activities for the Polar Star will be conducted by the Coordinating Center of Punta Arenas in Chile.

The reasons why the ship stuck are still unknown.
