Road safety warnings increased bumps
Puzzled motorists have been baffled by a road safety stunt where the wrecks of crashed cars have been left by the roadside – with giant jigsaw pieces in them.
The 12 motors – all from real life fatal accidents around Lodi, Italy – are supposed to warn motorists to go slowly.
But local police have reported a rise in shunts as distracted drivers turn to look at them.
Councillor Nancy Capezzera – who dreamed up the scheme – insists the jigsaw pieces are supposed to grab motorists’ attention and show them that speed is the missing part of the puzzle that caused the crashes.
“Really shocking images from life and death can change drivers’ behaviour,” she explained.
