If you lose a cushion, don´t try to rescue it yourself
Reminiscent of a scene from Desperate Housewives, mixed in with a Hollywood murder mystery, multimillionaire Swiss businessmen Beda Murer, 49, has been given up for dead four days after he fell off his luxury yacht while trying to rescue one of his cushions that had fallen in the water.
Murer had sailed to a restaurant with his girlfriend for a romantic meal and the pair were sailing back home across Lake Constance when a gust of wind sent one of the yacht’s expensive seat cushions tumbling into the water.
But when Murer tried to grab it, he toppled into the water and disappeared. His German girlfriend was unable to rescue him and raised the alarm, but police have now called off their search for the man after saying there is no chance he’s still alive after four days. A police spokesman said: “What the lake does not give up after four days it keeps for ever.”
