The chick in boots

A chick of an African Crane has managed to stand, after having received treatment having been born with underdeveloped legs. The treatment of “rehabilitation” that made the cute chick walk normally again, was little green boots.

The carers watch it every day attentively, because the animal tries to walk normally in the Bird Sanctuary Paradise Park, in Hayle. The green boots were placed to help it keep its fingers stretched to encourage their growth.

“We put the bandages on the legs of the bird and began to stretch his fingers,” said David Woolcock, one of the keepers of the chick.

It is supposed to reach a meter and 20 cm as an adult. The species was declared “vulnerable” in the UK, so that specialists are happy to help.
