A new East-West 350 mph floating bullet train connecting Russia to Berlin in just three hours has been unveiled by scientists.

The train – which floats above its rail on a magnetic cushion – can carry 1,200 passengers in first class comfort at more than double the speed of even the fastest normal trains.

Experts say the removal of friction from the wheels of conventional trains means the top speed could climb even higher.

Professor Roland Lipp – who unveiled the design at a Russian scientific convention in St Petersburg – explained: “Powerful magnets in the track and the train will create a floating track with no friction to slow the train down.”
