Emmerdale 19th to 23rd July 2010
Monday 19 July
Shadrach tells Marlon he doesn’t want to die and knows Marlon is right – he’s going to try and stop drinking, even if it kills him.
Natasha distracts Faye in the pub with an offer of a drink to ‘build bridges’ while Nathan returns the clothes to Dale View and buries the gun at the garage. It is clear that he isn’t putting Faye in the frame: but Ryan instead. Meanwhile, as Faye is positive about how they’re finally moving on from Mark, Natasha feels guilty that she and Nathan are plotting to destroy her life.
Jai calls Nikhil’s ex and tells her to stop contacting him in the hope it will help Nikhil’s problem.
Tuesday 20 July
Maisie is furious when she arrives at Holdgate to find Nikhil with a scantily clad woman. Will Nikhil finally tell Maisie the truth?
Charlie thanks Rodney for being such a good friend and decides to give him his car. Meanwhile, as Diane calls last orders for the final time, she realises how much she’s leaving behind.
Marlon is stumped when Shadrach gets philosophical about his life and when he sincerely asks for his help Marlon triumphantly helps Shadrach pour away his alcohol.
Wednesday 21 July
Diane makes her final preparations for France and transfers the rest of her cash. She’s moved by the effort Val and Rodney have gone to in throwing her a leaving party but is disappointed that Doug hasn’t turned up. As she makes a poignant speech about her time in the village and how she’ll always call it home, she introduces the new landlords of the
pub. Seeing Diane with her loved ones, prompts Charlie to realise that he needs to let his daughter know he’s ill before he leaves. Diane encourages him to go and waves him off with obvious love as he drives away in a taxi.
Nikhil tentatively visits Maisie and tells her the truth. She’s relieved that Amber wasn’t the only reason he was holding back and he’s delighted Maisie doesn’t mind.
Thursday 22 July (ep 1)
Will Diane and Charlie live happily ever after?
Declan tries to win Natasha back when he reveals he’s booked a holiday for her. She’s unenthused and regrets not being able to confide in him.
Thursday 22 July (ep 2)
Marlon takes it upon himself to help Shadrach enjoy his birthday. He reminds the rest of the Dingle’s its Shadrach’s birthday and decides they should throw him a birthday party tomorrow.
Nathan urges Natasha to take Declan up on his offer after Cain threatens her again. She is relieved when Declan agrees to take her away.
Friday 23rd July
Marlon is optimistic that Shadrach is off the booze and excitedly arranges his birthday party. Meanwhile, Shadrach goes for a walk and when he returns and sees everyone gathered in Tall Trees he’s hesitant to join them. Laurel finds him melancholic while he admits he couldn’t face his party sober. She pushes him to show his face and Marlon is furious when he shows up inebriated. Will the Dingles forgive Shadrach this time? Or will it be his last birthday in Emmerdale?
Natasha is relieved when Will seems unfazed after she reveals her relationship with Declan. As her and Declan head off on holiday, Nathan promises not to do anything stupid whilst she’s away.
