In this second show, we remember the remarkable performances of Ken Dodd, Lionel Richie, Brian Conley, Victoria Wood, and Lulu.

Ken Dodd tells us just how he captured the hearts of the audience by hosting two shows, the first in 1994 and then coming back eight years later in 2002.

We’ll look back at Lionel Richie’s show, which was the second show to be transmitted live, after An Audience with Take That. A live phone vote took place to decide which of Lionel’s love songs should be performed: ‘Hello’ or ‘Three Times a Lady’. ‘Three Times a Lady’ won the vote, much to the surprise of everyone, even Lionel himself! Special guest stars were Westlife.

Brian Conley reveals all about how he gave the audience a bit of a surprise by appearing totally naked apart from his socks – though he was playing a giant accordion in an attempt to cover himself up. He tells us how he performed a dangerous sword and card trick on Christine Hamilton blindfolded, stunning members of the audience.

We’ll recall how comedienne Victoria Wood gave a hilarious performance, becoming the first ever British comedienne to host An Audience With… Her performance was such a success that she won not one, but two BAFTA awards for this show – a highlight of which was The Ballad of Barry and Freda.

Lulu tells us how nervous she was about hosting her An Audience with… in 2002. Despite that nervousness she wowed the audience, and gave an emotional performance when her former husband Maurice Gibb joined her on stage for a duet, almost reducing Lulu to tears. The finale brightened the mood, when Frank Skinner dressed in drag and performed as one of Lulu’s backing singers, the ‘Lulettes’.
