Damages Episode 10
Wednesday 5 May 10.45-11.25pm BBC ONE
Now that Patty and Tom know Tessa Marchetti lied about her whereabouts on the Thanksgiving that Louis Tobin confessed to his crimes, a review of her airline work schedule reveals that, rather than being used to deposit money in the Antiguan bank at the time, Tessa was ferrying Tobin’s stolen cash back home, as the American legal drama continues.
Meanwhile, as she begins having troubling dreams about a woman she met as a child, Ellen engages Patty’s investigator to help with her sister Carrie’s drug possession case.
In the wake of the plaintiffs’ request to replace her, Patty suspends her efforts to recover the stolen money. However, when Tom realises what losing this case will mean for his own family’s finances, he goes behind Patty’s back and tells Tessa that her mother’s death wasn’t an accident, but rather a murder engineered by the Tobins.
Meanwhile, barred from an annual trip to oversee an African charity she has supported, Marilyn Tobin asks Leonard Winstone to get the decision overturned. As Winstone tries to protect the Tobins from losing their money – or worse – he is caught off guard by the arrival of his father, Albert Wiggins.
Upset by what she has been told by Tom, Tessa arrives at the DA’s office with questions for Ellen and her colleague, Nick Salenger. When Nick accuses her of working with Patty, Ellen insists that she has been playing her former boss for information, despite the DA’s admonitions to drop the case.
Finally, as the effort to reinstate Marilyn to the charity is shut down by Stuart Zedeck, the very person Winstone sent to help her, Ellen begins to suspect that the woman in her dreams may actually be her birth mother. And as Ellen decides to do nothing on behalf of her jailed sister, and Wiggins makes it clear that he expects to be cut in on his son’s deal with the Tobins, Patty and Tom get a one-week reprieve from the judge just before Tessa is arrested while on her way to meet them.
