With Carol Tobin being kept under wraps to prevent her from being questioned about Danielle Marchetti’s suspicious death, Leonard Winstone suggests she consider returning to see her psychiatrist. Unable to question Carol directly about Danielle’s death or her father’s fraud, Patty and Tom send an investigator to get a look at her patient file.

Meanwhile, Arthur Frobisher asks actor Terry Brooke and his producing partner, Gail Sturmer, not to make Patty the villain in their film version of his autobiography – but his plan backfires when she berates him in front of Terry and Gail.

Having seen Dr Maurice Samuels’s notes about Carol’s treatment, Tom calls on him, hoping he will agree to waive doctor-patient privilege. When the psychiatrist insists he must see a court order before he’ll comply, Tom and Patty’s investigator poses as Dr Samuels and asks Winstone to bring Carol in for another appointment.

Ellen’s sister, Carrie Parsons, is arrested for drug possession and their mother begs Ellen to help. Meanwhile, unaware that she already knows the truth, Michael Hewes tells his mother that he is going to be a father as he looks for details about their family’s medical history.

When she arrives at the office expecting to see Dr Samuels, Carol is taken aback to find Patty waiting for her instead. Threatened with an inquiry by the DA, Carol agrees to provide Patty with whatever she can learn about the night her father confessed to his crimes.

Pressed for details, Winstone tells Carol about what happened when he called on Danielle Marchetti. And when Carol reports back about the conversation, Patty realises that Tessa Marchetti was at her mother’s apartment that night…
